A clubface is a hypothesis.

FOUNDER
Ely Callaway
ORIGIN
Carlsbad, CA, 1982
BREAKTHROUGH
Big Bertha, 1991
METHOD
Machine learning, 2019

Ely Callaway founded the company in Carlsbad, California in 1982 with a simple conviction: golf should be more enjoyable for the person actually playing it. In 1991 that conviction became Big Bertha, the oversized driver that democratized forgiveness and let ordinary players find the center of the face more often than physics seemed to allow.

In 2019, Callaway became the first major equipment maker to design a clubface with machine learning. Flash Face was not sketched by a human engineer. It was searched for, iteration after iteration on supercomputers, until the geometry produced ball speeds no drafting table had reached. The face that shipped looked strange because no person drew it.

The Ai Smoke generation went further and trained face design on tens of thousands of real swings, so the forgiveness lives where actual golfers actually miss. The result is a quiet inversion of golf equipment history: the machine studies you, and the club arrives already understanding your game.

Get fit before you buy.

Callaway operates six fitting systems, from a one-minute ball quiz to Performance Centres running Toptracer and OptiFit. Documented below; every link opens the official tool.

Bench Test / two inputs, three observations

While the official tools run their full protocol, the bench sorts the live 27aDay sample against two inputs, deepest discount first.

INPUT 01 / SHOPPING FOR

INPUT 02 / DRIVER DISTANCE

AWAITING INPUT. Set both and the bench returns its three best live matches.

27aDay keeps a bench of its own as well: the 27aDay fitting studio.

Yer totally agree mate, the trip diamond Elyte is way more forgiving than it should be from the otherside as well.

This is why I got fit for a new Callaway driver (PGA superstore was having a free marketing event for Elyte fittings) and then took the shaft specs and bought a similar Paradym driver for a third the price on the Callaway pre owned store

My distances where about the same between the two but the Apex irons feel a ton better when I strike it well.

Chrome Soft. I’ve been testing the Chrome Tour recently, but at my speed (which is solid around 105), the Chrome Soft is better.

I bought my Odyssey White Hot Rossie 20 years ago, used, for $80. I drained my first two putts with it on the practice green from 50', and I've been lights out with it ever since.
